Meet Mike
Skier. Woodworker. Spartan. The man behind every Summit build.
From the slopes to the workshop
Mike grew up in Michigan, where he developed two lifelong passions: an unwavering love for Michigan State (Go Green!) and a drive to carve his own path in life. As a competitive skier throughout high school and college, he developed a deep love and appreciation for ski culture. This love sculpted his adult life and put him on a path where he could embody that spirit.
A life of ventures
Mike has never been one to sit still, eventually landing in Denver, Colorado—the perfect home for someone who lives for mountain air and fresh powder. Over the years, he's worked in the restaurant industry, produced large community events in Boulder County, CO, and worked in finance. These days, you can still catch him up at Keystone Resort, where he shares his decades of skiing expertise as an instructor.
The craft
But it's in the workshop where Mike truly comes alive. He produces professional-quality pieces that now live in homes across the state. Ten years ago, he looked at a pile of retired skis and saw something more than old gear; he saw potential.
That first ski chair was rough around the edges. However, Mike kept at it, refining his designs, experimenting with different ski configurations. A decade later, Summit Ski Chairs represents the culmination of that journey—furniture that honors both the mountain and the craft.
Why "Summit"?
The company is named after the most important member of the family: Summit, Mike's Golden Retriever and constant workshop companion. With his wife's unwavering support through every venture (and Summit keeping watch from her bed in the corner), Mike builds each chair by hand.
Every piece tells a story—of powder days and steep runs, of bluebird days and good friends. These skis tell a story of countless mountain adventures. Mike's job is to give them a second life, and yours is to give them a good home.
